Holiday Search Preparation
This month, let's make sure that we're ready for the holidays. Is your holiday sales plan in place? Have you optimized your website,
spent your advertising dollars, and put together your special creative work to attract buyers?
Hopefully, you have. And we'll add a few tips — what you can do in addition to the above:
- Beware of relying on banner advertising. A recent Jacob Nielson study shows that people are looking past banner
ads — not even reading them, in fact — to the content of webpages the customer visits. What you need to do is make sure
that your advertisements themselves carry content that will attract the prospects you need.
- Link your creative creatively. Make sure that holiday specials have their own special pages, and that links to these
pages are highlighted on your main page. This directs customers to the specialness of the offer while providing solid SEO opportunities.
- Do special holiday keyword optimization, and start it now so that by the time November comes around the search
engines have taken note. This is a great time to go for specialized keywords that will capture searchers and bring them directly to
your holiday-specials pages.
